I write all sorts of things: my adventures in daily life, political stuff, fannish stuff, links to things I find interesting, stupid quizzes and memes, poetry, and fanfiction. I have a crush on about half of the folks on my friendspage. My friending policy isn't much of a policy. Go ahead and friend me if you like. I may or may not friend you back, based a lot more on whether I've noticed you friending me than anything else. (I don't use an LJ-client that notifies me of such things, so I have to go looking for it. Which means I usually just don't.) Feel free to lurk silently; that doesn't bother me. I post behind Friendslock A LOT. This is partly to protect my own privacy, and partly to protect the privacy of my immediate family members. If I post something behind friendslock, please be sure it stays there. If I've friended you, I don't need you to friend me back. Likewise, if you decide to to unfriend me and move on, I promise not to be offended.
My life is rather hectic and busybusybusy. I'm over 45. I'm a mom of two kids (18 and 14) and I homeschool them. Yes, even for high school. This takes pretty much all my time. I am politically a socialist and a card-carrying member of the Green Party, as much for the social justice platform as the environmental policies. I think sex is fun, which I suspectestellongshanks appreciates. My hair color is subject to change without notice, but I haven't done anything to it but let it grow for over a year. I'm a birder and amateur naturalist. I love cooking and I eat good food of all sorts. I love backpacking and sailing, but I do neither of these things often enough. I wear my tricorne to the grocery store. I'm a fan of many books, films and television programs. I am currently enjoying White Collar and Downton Abbey, but I'm not pursuing fannish things as much as I once did. Soccer eats my life, in its seasons (Fall and Spring). My first fannish love was Tolkien; until I was 37, I thought *I* was the only person in the world who saw the Legolas/Gimli relationship as a more-than-platonic bond. Gandalf is my hero.
I believe in love. I believe in marriage. I believe that one's gender and orientation should not be a barrier to these things. I believe in justice. I believe in peace. I believe in personal sacrifice to make the world a better place. I believe the unexamined life is not worth living. I believe that writing in this journal for the pastfour five six seven eight NINE years has beeen immensely helpful to me.
